UCSF Dentistry Recognized By National Children's Oral Health Foundation as 2011 America's Toothfairy Affiliate of the Year
The National Children's Oral Health Foundation has named UCSF Dentistry as 2011 America's Toothfairy Affiliate of the Year, in recognition of "partners that have consistently demonstrated the highest level of commitment to eliminating pediatric dental disease in their communities."
In a letter to Dean John D.B. Featherstone, National Children's Oral Health Foundation President and CEO Fern Ingber writes that "Since joining the National Children's Oral Health Foundation Affiliate network in 2008, UCSF has exhibited exemplary leadership and outstanding delivery of critical oral health services to our nation’s most underserved children. Your tireless efforts and innovative programs serve as a model of excellence for all NCOHF Affiliates." In an accompanying e-mail he concludes " Thank you for your invaluable partnership in our mission to give all children the comprehensive oral healthcare they deserve."
At a ceremony in Chicago on February 24, 2011, the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation presented a plaque to the UCSF School of Dentistry recognizing the School as Affiliate of the Year. In addition, the NCOHF has provided a $1000 grant to the UCSF Dentistry chapter to "support exemplary humanitarian outreach projects" and "efforts to help underserved children."
"Great work all around!" adds Dean Featherstone in a note to UCSF Pediatric Dentistry faculty and students.
