ADEA BFACA Delegation Visits UCSF Dentistry
The American Dental Education Association's Sections on Business and Financial Administration and Clinic Administration (BFACA) held a mid-year meeting at the Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco October 13th through 16th, taking time out for an extensive afternoon visit and tour of UCSF's Parnassus Heights campus and the UCSF Dental Center at 707 Parnassus.
The afternoon began with a presentation by Associate Dean for Education and Student Affairs Dr. Dorothy Perry on the history of the UCSF School of Dentistry in the context of California and UC history, and an overview of the School today.
The tour of the Dental Center was co-led by Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs Dr. Mark Kirkland and Clinic Director Dr. Avelino Silva, accompanied by D3s Shibani Rajadhyksha and Joseph Eliason. Members of the clinical operations and educational services teams, including Clinical Operations Manager Maria Guerra and Student Records Coordinator Burton Ober, accompanied the tour groups to provide additional information and answer questions.
The visit concluded with addresses by Associate Dean for Administration and Finance Susan Schultz and Dean John D.B. Featherstone, in the Kalmanovitz Library's Lange Reading Room. The formal program was followed by refreshments and an informal discussion, during which members of the delegation declared themselves positively impressed by the School's facilities, and by the students, faculty and staff with whom they had met.
