Featherstone Appoints Hyde to Represent Dentistry to UCSF Center for Innovation in Interprofessional Education

June 18, 2012

HydeUCSF Dentistry Dean John D.B. Featherstone is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Susan Hyde, DDS, MPH, PhD, as the School of Dentistry representative to the campus-wide Center for Innovation in Interprofessional Education.

The Center’s goal is to change the campus culture from one of learning in professional silos to collaborative interprofessional learning.

Says Featherstone: "Dr. Hyde will be representing us in planning and integrating this important aspect of education into the academic experiences of the dental students. She will be responsible for the popular Interprofessional Days during the D1 and D2 years, and for expanding interprofessional learning opportunities in collaboration with the representatives from all the professional schools."

Hyde is particularly interested in developing clinical interprofessional experiences in both required and elective courses, faculty development in the area of interprofessional education, and seeking funding opportunities to expand Dentistry's current offerings in these areas. She will be working closely with Associate Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Dorothy Perry, and the course directors, to incorporate these significant activities into the curriculum.

"Please join me in congratulating Dr. Hyde on this appointment and supporting her with these important endeavors", adds Dean Featherstone.
