Dr. Sally Marshall Honored - 2013 AADR Irwin D. Mandel Distinguished Mentoring Award

Sally J Marshall, PhDSally J. Marshall, PhD, UCSF Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Distinguished Professor in the Division of Biomaterials and Bioengineering in UCSF Dentistry's Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences, has been given the 2013 Irwin D. Mandel Distinguished Mentoring Award by the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) at the AADR/IADR General Session and Exhibition in Seattle, Washington, March 20-23, 2013.

The award was established to provide national recognition for outstanding efforts to foster and promote research training and career development of students, trainees and junior faculty. It is intended to identify individuals at all levels of their career with an exemplary record of mentoring.  Nominees must be members of the AADR, and must be an experienced researcher with a record of commitment to the research training and career development of students, trainees and/or faculty.

Dr. Marshall has been a member of the faculty and administration at UCSF for more than two decades, is also the director of the Office of Faculty Development and Advancement. Beyond UCSF, she serves as a guest staff scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and is a former president of the International Association for Dental Research and a fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials.

She has previously been honored with the Wilmer Souder Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) in 2010.
