UCSF Dentistry at ADEA 2013

The UCSF School of Dentistry was a major presence at the 2013 American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Annual Session and Exhibition in Seattle, WA March 16-19 reports Rosalie Bittong Brao, President of UCSF Dentistry's ADEA chapter.

The chapter was honored for Outstanding Chapter Organization,  with the Distinguished Chapter Award, and with the Award for ADEA Innovative Chapter of the Year.

D2 Natalie La Rochelle was awarded a 2013 ADEAGies Foundation/AADR Academic Dental Careers Fellowship, previously awarded to Bittong and Shahab Parsa, both UCSF dental students in the Class of 2014.  The fellowship provides dental students with an opportunity to experience the benefits of an academic career and prepares students to enter academic dentistry via the year-long fellowship experience, and via mentor training and support programs utilizing dental school faculty.

Amir Dadgar-Yeganeh (D4) and Victoria Duong (D3) have each been awarded an ADEA/Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Preventive Dentistry Scholarship for 2013.

Several students also received national ADEA leadership positions:

  • D3 Rosalie Bittong Brao was elected as the Chair of the Council of Students, Residents, and Fellows (CoSRF)
  • D2 Alex Brao was re-appointed as the CoSRF Representative for the Annual Session Planning Committee
  • D2 Heather Wong was appointed the AADSAS Taskforce student representative

D3 Jennifer Cai and D2 Allan Huang presented posters.
