#1 in a series

As you know, the School's Accreditation site visit from the Commission on Dental Accreditation is nearly upon us. To help faculty, staff and students in final preparations for this event, we've created this "Did You Know?" series with some interesting facts and tidbits about the School of Dentistry. We will email it weekly until the week of the Accreditation visit from April 12-14, 2005.

• The School's new student mentoring program was initiated in September 2004. Faculty mentors were identified and students assigned to them in groups of four. More than 30 faculty members mentor first- and second-year dental students and the administration plans to extend the program to all classes.
  
  
• The School has created an electronic commons room for students (known as e-commons) to enhance student life and support services. Students have discussion threads and web pages, as well as access to an anonymous electronic suggestion box where they can offer ideas, suggestions and concerns to the administration.
