#13 in a series
As you know, the School's Accreditation site visit from the Commission on Dental Accreditation is nearly upon us. To help faculty, staff and students in final preparations for this event, we've created this "Did You Know?" series with some interesting facts and tidbits about the School of Dentistry. We will email it weekly until the week of the Accreditation visit from April 12-14, 2005.
- UCSF is a major provider of DentiCal services in the city of San Francisco. The patient census indicates that 34% of patients are covered by DentiCal.
- The School of Dentistry has received a Pipeline grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in the amount of $1,498,967 over five years, 2003 to 2007, to provide cultural training and practice experiences in underserved communities. This grant is now in its second year. Students receive specific information about a variety of cultures and spend 25 days during the fourth year at externship practices in underserved communities all over California.
