Incoming Third-Year Dental Students Honored at Clinical Induction Ceremony The annual Clinic Induction Ceremony for the School of Dentistry's third-year dental students was held on July 5. All students signed the Clinic Induction Pledge, and received a copy signed by Dean Bertolami along with a commemorative pen. The ceremony was hosted by Associate Dean for Clinic Administration William F. Bird, and the pledge signing was witnessed by Dean Charles N. Bertolami and Dean Emeritus John C. Greene. Scholarships Presented In addition, California Dental Association (CDA) scholarships of $1,500 each were awarded to four students. The students were selected based on academic achievement, community leadership, and financial need. The awards were presented by Ms. Doni Bird, representing the CDA Foundation. The Hu-Friedy Manufacturing Company supports the Clinic Induction Ceremony by providing two scholarships and funding the continental breakfast enjoyed by the third-year class at the close of the ceremony. These scholarships are awarded to one outstanding third-year dental student and one outstanding international dental student based on leadership, character, academic achievement and community service.
