Overview

The program runs concurrently with the DDS degree curriculum at UCSF. All MBA courses are offered during the evening at USF (within 10 minutes of the UCSF campus). UCSF dental students join regular MBA classes that include USF MBA students and students participating in concurrent MBA degrees from USF's law school, environmental management program, and Asia Pacific Studies programs. Dental students will be able to take one course during the fall USF term and one during the spring term each year; they can take more if their academic program and progress permits. Students who have completed the first year of dental school will also be able to take courses during the summer session prior to the second year of dental school. The concurrent program is designed to permit DDS students to complete the MBA during the course of their dental studies. Students who graduate from the dental program and need to complete the academic program at USF can do so.

UCSF provides a seminar series for DDS/MBA students and interested DDS students. The series provides the opportunity to interact with dentists who have earned the MBA degree and followed career paths in business.

Students enrolled in the concurrent programs will be required to maintain satisfactory academic progress, demonstrating good academic standing in both the DDS program and in the MBA program. A DDS/MBA Joint Status Committee will convene in December and July to review the progress of each student in the concurrent programs.
