| Support UCSF School of Dentistry |
| Few dental schools can compare with the quality and scope of the UCSF School of Dentistry. The School spearheads basic and clinical research to advance the treatment and understanding of orofacial health, often collaborating with the biotechnology community to make those advancements accessible to the general public. |
| Training dentists of the future in an up-to-date environment is consistent with the School of Dentistry's status as a scientific leader. The School is dedicated to excellence in patient care, the fundamentals of which are taught in the UCSF dental clinics. |
| However, these 14 clinics, which accommodate more than 140,000 patient visits a year, are 20 years old and are in need of renovation. A Clinics Modernization Campaign is now underway to replace outdated equipment and restructure facilities to accommodate new technologies. Phase I of the modernization plan was completed in June 2000 and raised more than $3 million from private sources to renovate the two largest clinics used primarily by third- and fourth-year dental students. |
| Phase II of the modernization plan, with a fundraising goal of $3 million, will include renovation of the orthodontic, periodontic, endodontic and dental hygiene clinics and creation of a new state of the art simulation lab. Several naming opportunities exist with the modernization plan. |
