Pharmacotherapy Pearls and Problems: What’s New in Medications

What You Will Learn
This course is a review of pharmacotherapy for the practitioner, including discussion of the major classes of common agents. In addition, an update on new clinical information regarding analgesics, adjutants, antimicrobials and other drug classes will include recent studies and guidelines. Interactive case presentations and problem solving will permit attendees to actively participate in clinical case decisions.

Lecture Objectives

  • Review new pharmacotherapeutic agents for management of pain and infection
  • Discuss current treatment recommendations and develop strategies for analgesic selection
  • Compare the benefits and potential adverse effects of new agents
  • Review clinical studies on current and look to future drug development
  • Apply pharmacologic principles to daily practice activities

Lori Reisner, Pharm.D. is a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor in the UCSF School of Pharmacy and a Clinical Pharmacist at the University of California in San Francisco Medical Center, where she teaches and serves as a preceptor.

Intended Audience:

The intended audience is dentists and dental hygienists, dental assistants will also benefit from this information.
