Problems in Endodontics

The past ten years has brought many advances in the practice of endodontics, including a better understanding of treatment errors and the development of realistic outcomes. In a fast paced, multimedia format, Dr. Pantera will discuss the identification of problems that can occur during endodontic treatment. Strategies for problem solving and techniques for avoiding them will be covered.

Specific topics to be covered include:

  • Diagnostic techniques

  • Deciphering endo-perio lesions

  • Fractured teeth

  • Dealing with resorption

  • Emergency treatment procedures

  • Anesthesia problems

  • Access cavity design

  • Cleaning and shaping

  • New instruments

  • Avoiding broken instruments

  • Obturation techniques - new and old

This timely and practical course is designed to help you manage the difficult situations general practitioners may face during endodontic treatment. You will be prepared to offer your patients the most current treatment strategies while avoiding complications.

Eugene A. Pantera, Jr., DDS, MS is clinical associate professor in Endodontics and Assistant Dean for Continuing Dental Education at the School of Dental Medicine, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. In addition to many peer reviewed publications and presentations; Dr. Pantera is the former Endodontics Section Editor for Clark's Clinical Dentistry and contributor to Schuster's Oral Microbiology & Infectious Disease. Dr. Pantera presents seminars nationally and internationally on varied endodontic topics and is a member of numerous professional organizations. He practiced general dentistry for eight years before endodontics and currently maintains a private practice limited to endodontics.

Intended Audience:

This course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of general dentists and all other members of the dental team. Dental hygienists will be better prepared to answer their patients' questions about endodontic treatment. Dental assistants will be able to provide better chairside support during endodontic procedures.
