UCSF Roundtable Seminars in Clinical Dentistry

Four Friday Sessions October 9, 2009; January 8; March 12; May 7, 2010

What You Will Learn

This participation study group will maximize practitioners learning experiences while minimizing time away from practice. The program is designed to provide practicing dentists up-to-date science, technology, methods and techniques using a small seminar format. Update your skills as a clinician, diagnostician and learn about new and innovative methods in clinical dentistry. The techniques presented will allow you to expand your current services in restorative dentistry.

Faculty experts present new techniques and skills in a collaborative atmosphere and you will be able to bring useful new skills to the office the very next day. This study group will give you an opportunity to network with others and develop professional friendships. Whether you are just out of dental school or have been running a multi-location office for 25 years, there is great benefit from this educational experience. Enrollment is limited in order to permit direct interaction with the speakers and study group members as the material is presented.

Implications of Systemic Diseases on Clinical Periodontal Implant Practice
Joan Otomo-Corgel, DDS

The connection between periodontal disease and systemic infection is of increasing interest to the dental profession. Periodontal diseases and oral infections have been linked to systemic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, adverse pregnancy outcomes, respiratory diseases, diabetes, and osteoporosis. This course will review the recent research relating these conditions with periodontal diseases. Clinical applications of this information will be related to  treatment planning, options, and therapeutic approaches.

Restorative Dentistry for the Pediatric Patient

Documented cases will be presented and discussed.

Making Rotary Endodontics Safe and Efficient: A mastery level workshop
John West, DDS, MSD

Rotary endodontics is here to stay. However, if you have tried rotary shaping, you probably found it challenging. What, then, is the best application of this technique? What is the “progressively tapered advantage?” How do I use time tested principles with new technology to achieve simplicity and efficiency? When am I safe to use rotary? This hands-on workshop is taught by one of the world’s premier clinical endodontic teachers. Learn how each element of system thinking and technique merges together to intuitively generate a seamless flow from cleaning and shaping to easy and predictable 3-D obturation. This program will help you to master the mechanics of endodontics.

Ownership: The Missing Ingredient in Practice Success
Mark Cooper, DDS
Ownership, what is it? Where did you learn how to be an owner? What are the owner’s responsibilities in operating a practice? The more effective you are as an owner, the more successful your practice. The more you understand and apply your rights as an owner, the higher will be the performance of practice. The better you can fulfill your accountability as an owner, the greater financial success you will achieve.

This interaction will educate, train and develop participants to be effective owners. Participants will be able to immediately return to their practice and apply the knowledge gained so that the quality of actions, the level of results and the return on investment are markedly enhanced.
