Dr. David George passed away on New Year's Day following a lengthy illness.

Dr. George volunteered in General Dentistry on Mondays until his illness last quarter says Dr. Sheila Brear, General Dentistry Division Chair, adding: "David George was a committed and inspiring faculty member who volunteered at UCSF in Clinical General Dentistry. He served as a Coach to International students until recently. He assisted countless numbers of students in becoming true professionals and he was much loved and admired. He was never shy with his opinions and he contributed significantly in meetings. He was highly valued and he will be greatly missed."

Dr. George's widow, Lynne George, sent the following announcement:

This is to let you know that my husband and your colleague, David M. George, DDS, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior at 4:00 am January 1, 2009.

I was with him for our New Year's midnight kiss date, which he promised me, and he passed on shortly after, due to pancreatic cancer.

1:00 pm, Saturday, January 24

I hope to meet some of his UCSF friends there.
