Jane Weintraub Named UCSF Dentistry's |

UCSF School of Dentistry Dean Dr. John D.B. Featherstone is pleased to announce that Dr. Jane Weintraub will be honored as Faculty Research Lecturer for 2009, recognizing outstanding achievement in the field of science related to oral and craniofacial health. Over many years of distinguished achievement Dr. Weintraub has advanced the science of dental public health through her efforts to establish and lead multi-faceted research teams that study many aspects of caries and health disparities research. Dean Featherstone comments: “I have worked with Jane for many years and I am so pleased that she will be honored in this way this year. Her work over several decades has been outstanding and has contributed strongly to improvements in oral health for our nation.” Dr. Weintraub will be honored at the School of Dentistry’s annual Research and Clinical Excellence Day on October 8, 2009 held in Cole Hall. At that time she will deliver the Faculty Research Lecturer address, highlighting many of her significant contributions and achievements in oral health research. Dr. Weintraub is the Lee Hysan Professor and Chair, Division of Oral Epidemiology and Dental Public Health, University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry and Director of the NIH-funded Center to Address Disparities in Children’s Oral Health, nicknamed the CAN DO Center. She is a board-certified public health dentist and past president of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry. Her research has focused on the epidemiology of oral conditions, caries prevention-oriented randomized clinical trials, and research to reduce oral health disparities. Relevant Links
