ASDASF Chapter leaders traveled to Louisville, Kentucky this past spring for their annual leadership convention. UCSF leaders received much recognition for their accomplishments this past 2008-2009 school year.

Chapter President Virginia Pham received the prestigious Ryan Turner Memorial Scholarship, a national award that recognizes one leader for their dedication to organized dentistry and service to ASDA.

Virginia has made her mark over years of consistent leadership in organized dentistry, and has earned a solid reputation as a service leader. Under her direction, ASDA-SF has flourished, gaining status and recognition both locally and nationally as an active student group.

This year ASDASF took home the estimable Ideal Chapter Award for Outstanding Activities for Pre-Dental Membership, and Honorable Mention for Most Improved Chapter.

Community Service Chair, Christian Yee, accepted Honorable Mention for the second consecutive year in Crest Healthy Smiles Community Service Award.

Christian consistently strives to provide UCSF and the Bay Area pediatric dentistry community with outreach and community events. He was single-handedly responsible for organizing ten different events that reached out to over 400 young people.

Christian was also awarded the ASDA Award of Excellence for his commitment and dedication to ASDA this year.

Chapter Membership Coordinator and President-elect Emerald Nguyen (left, above) also accepted a cash award for enrolling over 95% of UCSF ASDA members in ADA’s Life Insurance Plans, one of the organization's most popular benefits.

Emerald also accepted a cash award for winning ASDA’s Freshman Welcome Contest.

Dean John D.B. Featherstone was awarded the national 2009 ASDA Faculty Award for promoting the ideals of organized dentistry and motivating new memberships within the school of dentistry.

Maureen Conway with the Office of Student Life was awarded the 2009 ASDA Advocate Award for supporting the efforts of organized dentistry and providing leadership and direction for ASDA chapter leaders and members.

The support and contributions from both these individuals helped make this year such a great success!.
