Dr. Vaderhobli discusses his background in Dentistry:

I received my dental degree from R. V. Dental (affiliated with Bangalore University) in 1999, and because of my passion towards dental materials went on to get my masters degree in Biomedical sciences from State University of New York, Alfred. Based on my work in the use of microwave sintering of dental ceramics I was invited to work as a guest scientist which then culminated in a job as a research specialist at the American Dental Association Paffenbarger Research Foundation (ADA-PRC) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, Gaithersburg, MD).

I was also a research consultant to Ivoclar developing dental luting cements. During my time there I successfully conducted International Standards Testing (ISO) on dental materials, and also helped in product development of Dental Filling materials. In 2005 I entered a two year A.E.G.D residency training at the Eastman Dental Center affiliated to University of Rochester to get my dental license in New York. During my residency training at Eastman Dental Center (Rochester, NY) I conducted clinical trials on fluoride/Ca rinses and detecting dental caries using laser fluorescence, and was recognized with research scholarship awards.

Since coming here I have been absorbed in the tradition of projecting UCSF as a world class leader in Dentistry by teaching, research and clinical practice. I teach the clinical use of dental materials, and I am course director for the highly competitive International Dental Summer Program, a DDS/Phd Mentor, and a clinical coach, in addition to teaching the use of lasers clinically, and collaborating with other dental schools in Dental Informatics.

Apart from dentistry I belong to RAT - that’s Riders Association of Triumph.

I love being here..amazing staff, encouraging faculty and loving students. What more can I ask for!
