Description of Services:

This is the main student dental clinic at UCSF. All new patients will be assessed a fee of $12 for the New Patient Visit exam (NPV), to determine eligibility for the various clinic programs.

Preventive: Second year dental students provide preventive dental services to healthy patients with healthy or minor tooth and gum disease. Basic services include a complete examination, limited x-rays, a cleaning and the placement of resin sealants. The Preventive Clinic is open January-June. A special discount may be available for UCSF and other college students; please inquire at the new patient visit session.

Comprehensive Dental Care: Third and fourth year dental students, under direct supervision of attending faculty, provide general dental care (exams, fillings, crowns, dentures, teeth whitening, implants, root canals, etc.) to patients without serious medical conditions.

Emergency Dental Services:

Open to the general public on a first-come first- serve basis (no appointment needed).  Patients with severe symptoms and Comprehensive Care are prioritized.  Please be advised that ER wait time can be unpredictable because of the nature of emergencies and availability of providers.  Clinic is closed for University holidays and academic events and activities.  Your patience is appreciated.  Call main telephone number (415-476-5814, option #1) for more specific information.

Cost:

The Predoctoral Clinic is a fee-for-service clinic.  Payment is expected at the time of service.  We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, as well as cash and checks.  ER services is a flat $75 for an assessment and treatment fee* including limited x-rays.  Payment is expected at time of registration time. 

* Some emergency procedures have higher fees, e.g. denture repairs, extractions, etc.

Insurance plans accepted:

We are members of Delta Dental Premier, Delta PPO, Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal).  As a courtesy, we will bill your insurance.  To expedite registration, please bring your benefit card and/or plan information.

  • Online pre-registration available via our New Patient Portal: https://dentalhealth.ucsf.edu .  You must obtain an access password when booking appointment (415) 476-1891 Option 3 or you can print, complete, and bring in registration material (medical, dental history, and demographics) to your appointment.  You will also be provided access to read our Patient Bill of Rights, HIPAA privacy policy, conditions of treatment, financial policies, dental materials fact sheet, and UCSF School of Dentistry photo policy.  The forms are available immediately below: New Patient Forms
