In accordance with our mission to the advancement of the oral health
and welfare of children including those with special needs, we at UCSF
Division of Pediatric Dentistry have carefully designed a curriculum
specifically tailored to produce a relatively small number of highly
trained specialists who will assume leadership roles in academic
pediatric dentistry or private practice.
In addition to the first class academic and clinic
opportunities offered at the San Francisco campus, the affiliation with
Children’s Hospital Medical Center, at Oakland, provides a wealth of
experience in treating pediatric dental trauma in the emergency
department as well as the child with special health care
needs. The program also seeks to stimulate interest in
careers combining clinical practice and research, offering a wide
variety of research opportunities for our residents.
We are pleased to report that in the latest
Accreditation, we received special commendations for our residents and
for our research. We take great pride in the program and our residents,
and are constantly endeavoring to respond to the changing needs of our
students and community to ensure that our residents receive the best
and most comprehensive training possible. Recent changes have
included adding practice management experience and clinical rotations
which have allowed us to expand our patient care.
We fervently believe that UCSF Pediatric Dentistry is a
place where a deep commitment to teaching and to serving the needs of
children combine to produce an exceptional educational experience for
our residents.
