About a year ago, several managers at the UCSF Dental Center's Predoctoral Student Dental Clinic decided that more could be done to recognize the great work of the clinic's extraordinary and indispensable staff, whose experience, expertise and calm professionalism provide essential support to faculty, students, patients, and to the UCSF School of Dentistry as a whole, directly and indirectly.
The WOW Award is an initiative of the Predoctoral Clinic managers, including Ruth Saldana, Janis Williams, Isidro Najar, Mayra Campos, and Frank Vinculado, and is meant to "recognize and demonstrate consistent performance of our Predoctoral Team", according to a poster explaining the award.
The award highlights team members who provide solutions, instead of presenting problems, provide excellent service, and are good peers to co-workers.
This week, longtime clinical staff members Rosa Kreitz and Beverly Wong were celebrated with certificates and balloons.
Echoing the sentiments of the Predoctoral Clinic managers, UCSF Dentistry Dean John D.B. Featherstone tells staff members at every opportunity that "we can't do it without you", and that everyone at the UCSF School of Dentistry is "very grateful for everything you do."
