Student Conduct

Students enrolling in the University are required to observe University policies and campus regulations pertaining to student conduct, student discipline, use of University facilities and related matters. Students violating such policies or regulations are subject to University discipline which may take the form of warning, censure, loss of privileges and exclusion from activities, suspension, dismissal, exclusion from areas of the campus, interim suspension, and restitution. These policies and regulations are contained in the pamphlet, University of California Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations, and Students, and a supplement pertaining to the San Francisco campus. These policies and regulations are available upon request in the Registrar’s Office.

Chancellors may impose discipline for violation of University policies or campus regulations. Such violations include the following types of misconduct:

1. Dishonesty, such as cheating, plagiarism, or knowingly furnishing false information to the University.

2. Forgery, alteration, or misuse of University documents, records, keys, or identifications.

3. Theft of, conversion of, or damage to or destruction of, any property of the University or property of others while on University premises.

4. Unauthorized entry to or use of University properties, equipment, or resources.

5. Obstruction or disruption of teaching, research, administration, disciplinary procedures, or other University activities.

6. Violation of University policies, campus regulations, or rules governing residence in University property.

7. Physical abuse, threats of violence, or conduct that threatens the health or safety of any person on University property or in connection with official University functions.

8. Disorderly or lewd conduct on University properties or at official University functions.

9. Participation in a disturbance of the peace, or unlawful assembly on a University property or at official University functions.

10. Failure to comply with directions of a University official or other public officials acting in the performance of their duties while on University property or at official University functions, or resisting or obstructing such University or other public officials in the performance of or the attempt to perform their duties.

11. Use, possession, sale, or manufacture or attempted manufacture of narcotic or illegal drugs on University properties or at official University functions, except as expressly permitted by law.

12. Violation of orders issued pursuant to Section 50.00 of the Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations, and Students during a declared state of emergency.

13. Violation of the conditions contained in a written Notice of Emergency Suspension issued pursuant to Section 53.00 et seq. of the Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations, and Students.
