At this session, you will have the opportunity to meet with Dr. Gansky along with other faculty mentees and mentors as he shares his re ections on the knowledge and skills needed to advance in a research career at UCSF.
Among other topics, he will review:
■ How to effectively “manage up”
■ Developing your teams – your mentoring team and your research team
■ Getting from a K award to an R award with a mentorship team
Stuart Gansky, DrPH, is Professor and Lee Hysan Chair of Oral Epidemiology in the
Department of Preventive & Restorative Dental Sciences. His research focuses on oral health promotion and disease prevention, health disparities and health equity, as well as related statistical and epidemiologic methodological issues. He directs the UCSF Center to Address Disparities in Children’s Oral Health (known as CAN-DO) and the NIH-funded Coordinating Center to Help Eliminate/Reduce Oral Health Inequities in Children, which supports four ongoing large community-based UH3 prevention trials. He has mentored scores of students and junior faculty in clinical and translational research, is an Assistant Director of the UCSF CTSI Mentor Training Program, and was the recipient of the 2015 Academic Senate Distinction in Mentoring Award (Professor rank).
