    The UCSF Mini-Residency in Dental Sleep Medicine is designed for dental professionals to develop in-depth knowledge and clinical procedures for treating sleep-related breathing disorders. Participants will become skilled at utilizing oral appliance therapy in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), sleep disordered breathing, and snoring patients in their practices.

    This course is designed to help dentists determine which appliance is appropriate for a patient. There are many appliances to choose from and each appliance may not be appropriate for specific circumstances. Small mouths, tori, mouth breathers, large tongues, small teeth are just a few intra-oral problems to consider when fabricating an appliance.

  • Research and Clincial Excellence Day 2019

    Each year, the School of Dentistry community gathers for our annual Research and Clinical Excellence Day. UCSF students and research trainees present their work through posters and oral presentations. For predoctoral students who have spent the summer working on projects with their faculty advisors, this event offers an opportunity to receive feedback as they fine-tune their presentations for a national audience at upcoming meetings of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) and the American Dental Education Association (ADEA).

  • Oral Conscious Sedation for Young Dental Patients - California Sedation Permit Renewal Course

    This course provides updated information for using oral conscious sedation for pediatric and adolescent dental patients that can be performed in your offices with your staff. Drug pharmacology and selected regimens will be presented in the context of appropriate patient selection, while considering your pediatric patients’ anatomical airway and physiological development. This year, we will also add morphine in our drug regimen’s selection. This course also will update you with new rules and regulation from the CA Dental Board for oral conscious sedation, refresh your understanding of patient management, monitoring, record-keeping, and other safety issues.
