The Student National Dental Association (SNDA) Chapter at UCSF held its annual Impressions Conference on Parnassus Campus, an event providing exposure to pre-dental students. This event was held in-person for the first time in over 3 years.
More than 120 people attended the event where they were able to connect with dental student volunteers, listen to panels from guest speakers and get some hands-on time with sim lab activities.
The UCSF Dentistry student group says the goal of the Impressions Conference is to inspire and educate minority and under-represented students looking to pursue a career in dentistry.
“Several of our current dental students attended this conference in the past as predental students and were able to give back as volunteers. They were extremely excited to be on the other side and share what they learned throughout their predental journey,” said UCSF Dentistry’s Betty Birbo, Class of 2026.
Pre-dental students who attended reflected on the event:
"I greatly enjoyed the presentations from Dr. Muhaimin and Dr. Fleming. It was very inspiring to me as a future Black dentist. I also greatly enjoyed the Personal Statement workshop. The feedback I received was very helpful."
"I enjoyed speaking with the dental students during lunch. They were approachable, kind. and always willing to answer any questions. Engaged with us."
"I enjoyed being able to network with actual dental students who provided great advice and tips on my pre-dental journey"
"The best part about the conference was being able to meet so many new people including dental students. All of the dental students were so kind and welcoming. I also found the personal statement workshop to be helpful."
