Aria Sikaroudi was born in Berkeley, Calif. At the age of 16, he participated in a dental research internship at UCSF where he was paired with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon studying dental pulp stem cells for bone regenerative purposes. One day, he was invited to the operating room where he witnessed his first surgical procedure after an ameloblastoma destroyed the right side of a patient’s mandible. Ten hours later, he saw how the patient’s jaw was fully reconstructed using bone from her leg to recreate a functional, yet aesthetic outcome — this ignited his passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery.
After working for an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for three years at UC Davis, he carried his interest into dental school. At UCSF, Dr. Sikaroudi assisted Dr. Stephen Connelly on research for squamous cell carcinoma and held various board positions while mentoring students who were interested in dentistry and OMFS. His clinical interests are orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial trauma, and dentoalveolar surgery. In his free time, Dr. Sikaroudi enjoys working out, film photography, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with his friends and family.
