Dr. Benit was raised in Newcastle, California, a small town situated between Sacramento and Tahoe. She completed her undergraduate studies in English Literature at UC Davis. During her time at Davis, she served as the dental coordinator of a student-run clinic focused on providing free dental care to unhoused individuals in Sacramento. This early experience ignited her commitment to improving healthcare accessibility.
Following her time at UC Davis, Dr. Benit earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UCLA, where she was actively involved with the American Student Dental Association at both chapter and state levels. She was also an advocate for health and wellness among dental students and led wellness initiatives with health professionals in the Los Angeles area. Alongside her current role at UCSF, Dr. Benit is pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. Her ultimate goal is to increase access to dental care for kiddos in rural communities following residency. Outside her professional commitments, Dr. Benit enjoys running, eating her way through San Francisco with her husband and friends, and traveling.
