Bryant Lau was born and raised in San Jose, California. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles where he attained a BS in Human Biology and Society. During his time at UCLA, Dr. Lau participated in research at the UCLA School of Dentistry. His research endeavors included studying the transcriptional regulatory network of Grainyhead-like 2 and its role in oral squamous cell carcinoma. Within the Division of Public Health and Community Dentistry, Dr. Lau co-authored a manuscript analyzing parents’ perceptions of their children’s oral health. He then attended dental school crosstown at the University of Southern California. During dental school, he volunteered in the Special Patients Clinic where he provided comprehensive dental care for mentally disabled, medically complex, and geriatric patients. After dental school, Dr. Lau completed a 1-year OMFS internship at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where he served patients in a diverse and multicultural setting. Dr. Lau is fluent in Cantonese and in his spare time enjoys roasting coffee, working at his wife’s family winery, and cooking/eating pho.
