Nivethitha Nagarajan graduated from the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, India, with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and went on to pursue her career as an oral medicine and radiology resident. During her studies, she was recognized for her academics, receiving the university medal for proficiency. In the course of her residency, she additionally completed rotations in radiation oncology, radiology, dermatology, medical oncology, and various other disciplines which only increased her interest in the inter-disciplinary aspects of oral medicine.
Her thesis dissertation focused on treating radiation mucositis and alleviating pain in oral cancer patients. She also pursued research work on oral potentially malignant disorders, temporomandibular joint disorders, etc. She was the primary investigator for several research projects and has published in national and international journals. Following her residency, she became a faculty member in oral medicine at the KSR Institute of Dental Science and Research, India. She was the coordinator of numerous dental education activities and awareness campaigns.
Dr. Nagarajan's long-term goal is to establish herself as an expert and a leader in oral medicine. She is passionate about head and neck oncology research and hopes to contribute to the cure for oral cancer. Her research interests include oral oncology, oral potentially malignant disorders, temporomandibular joint disorders, oral manifestations of systemic diseases, oral care for immunocompromised patients, etc. She is looking forward to broadening her knowledge of oral medicine, providing professional clinical care, and serving people.
Her interests include sketching, creating artwork, photography, reading, and traveling.
