Yan Zhang grew up in the historic city of Nanjing, China, and moved to the U.S. in pursuit of academic excellence. His journey led him to Denison University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then explored the field of Biomedical Engineering with a Master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University. However, it was at UCSF School of Dentistry where he truly found his passion and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
With a unique background in both engineering and dentistry, Dr. Yan naturally gravitated towards orthodontics, where the artistry of biology meets the precision of engineering. As a resident at UCSF, Dr. Yan is committed to using evidence-based orthodontic methods, combined with latest technology, to help patients achieve brilliant smiles and restore functionality.
