Make a Gift

Your gift helps ensure the continued success of the School of Dentistry. There are several options for making a gift, from donating to the Annual Fund to earmarking funds for scholarships, endowing professorships and making a plan gift through your estate plan.

Annual Fund / Dean's Associates

Dean's Associates represent the core philanthropic leadership at the School of Dentistry. Become a Dean's Associate and enjoy a multitude of benefits:

  • Name recognition in the annual Honor Roll of Giving publication and on the School of Dentistry website
  • Invitation to regional Dean's Associates receptions throughout California, hosted by select alumni in their homes (San Francisco, Orinda, Hillsborough, Los Gatos, Sacramento, Fresno, Pacific Palisades, Montebello, Newport Beach and San Diego)
  • Invitation to the annual Scholarship Hall of Fame reception honoring scholarship recipients
  • Commemorative Dean's Associate certificate

Planned Giving

You can make charitable giving to the School of Dentistry part of your estate planning to ensure your generosity will have an impact beyond your lifetime. Your gift can be in the form of a bequest in your will, a charitable gift annuity or trust, or the donation of assets, such as stocks or real estate.

Explore the many options for planned giving on the UCSF gift planning website.

Support for Students

Scholarships ensure that the highest quality health sciences education remains accessible to the next generation of students regardless of financial means.

Support for Faculty

Distinguished Professorships

UCSF's highest honor — distinguished professorships — enable the University to make a permanent, substantial to a researcher or clinician and his or her area of intellectual interest. Reserved for leaders in their fields, distinguished professorships signify UCSF's belief in a faculty member's past contributions and future promise. These endowments are often used to create new positions and to attract world-renowned scientists to UCSF. Endowment earnings pay for salary, benefits, research and administrative assistants, equipment, publications and other expenses related to the faculty member's work.

Endowed Chairs

Endowed chairs recognize their holders' past achievements and future potential. Although some are used to attract new faculty, an endowed chair usually supports a current position. Because it is honorary and permanent, this type of endowment plays a vital role in sustaining a first-rate faculty — supporting the costs of research assistants, equipment, publications, professional travel and, in some cases, supplementing a faculty member's salary and benefits. Further gifts to endowed chairs can increase these endowments to the level of distinguished professorships, which provide even greater honor and support.
