Content

UCSF School of Dentistry strives to provide learners with the highest quality continuing dental education programs available today. Our programs, include clinical and scientific practice in the dental industry and the credits earned fulfill dental board requirements for license renewal. We offer programs in-person and live webinars via Zoom. Our live webinars will count towards in-person instructional hours per the Dental Board of California. However, this may vary for license renewal in other states.

Credentials

UCSF is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.

Registration

There are two ways to register for CDE programs:

Online: Select program and click "Register Now"
Phone: 415.514.0778

A confirmation email will be sent to you. If you do not receive a confirmation, please call our office. Please note that holiday office closures may delay the registration process by a few days.

Cancellation Policy

In-person Lecture Courses: Tuition refund, less a $50 cancellation fee, will be issued for cancellations received in writing or by telephone at least three (3) business days prior to the start date of the course. No refunds will be issued for late cancellations or no-shows. We reserve the right to cancel any course due to circumstances beyond our control; in those rare instances we will refund all course fee payments. UCSF School of Dentistry CDE is not responsible for reimbursement of any travel expenses in the event that a course is cancelled.

Live Webinar Lecture Courses: Tuition refund, less a $25 cancellation fee, will be issued for cancellations received in writing or by telephone at least three (3) business days prior to the start date of the course. No refunds will be issued for late cancellations or no-shows. We reserve the right to cancel any course due to circumstances beyond our control; in those rare instances we will refund all course fee payments. UCSF School of Dentistry CDE is not responsible for reimbursement of any travel expenses in the event that a course is cancelled.

Participation Courses: Refunds for participation/workshop courses, minus the non-refundable deposit, will be granted if requested at least 10 days prior to the start of the course. No refund given with less than 10 days before the course start.

Travel Courses: Each course varies. Please call our office, or refer to specific travel brochures for details.

UCSF School of Dentistry Continuing Dental Education’s mission is to provide learners in the dental community with the highest quality continuing dental education programs available today. We strive to provide dental health professionals the tools to allow better patient outcomes by providing peer-reviewed, evidence-based programs.

Our goal is to offer a variety of high-quality programs that reflect the current trends and scientific research in dentistry. We are committed to ensuring our program content offered is relevant and applicable to dental professionals, so that they may gain and maintain the knowledge and skills to the needs of their patients. We make every effort to provide programs that are applicable to all dental professionals in the community be offering an array of topics.

Scientific Evidence Policy

Standards of the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) require that ADA CERP providers ensure scientifically sound continuing education. In order to comply with the standards related to the scientific content of continuing education programs, the Office of Continuing Dental Education at UCSF School of Dentistry has adopted the following policies:

Instructors are responsible for ensuring that clinical and technical continuing education activities have a sound scientific basis and proven clinical efficacy in order to promote public safety.
Instructors must support clinical recommendations with reference to the scientific literature whenever possible. In instances where scientific evidence for new or accepted dental procedures is emerging, uncertain or limited, the instructor must ensure that the level of scientific evidence that is available is presented, in addition to the known benefits and risks associated with the course subject matter.
Instructors should caution participants about the potential risks of using limited knowledge when integrating new techniques into their practice.
Instructors must attest that the images used in the CE activity have not been falsified to misrepresent treatment outcomes.
Instructors who offer the same course on an ongoing or repeated basis must periodically review the course content and update as needed to insure that it includes current scientific information and an assessment of risks and benefits.
