An Nguyen grew up in Vietnam and graduated from UC Davis with a BS in molecular and cell biology. After graduation she worked as a lab technician to continue on her undergrad project about abnormalities in chromosome pairing. She then grew more interest in the differentiation of stem cells and decided to study neural crest cells. An is currently a student in the lab of Dr. Richard Schneider. Her project focuses on signaling pathways that are required for the timing of bone formation in the mandible. In her spare time, she enjoys watching cooking shows and trying out new recipes. She also likes gardening, skiing and exploring new hiking trails.
