Rebecca is a fourth-year DDS/PhD student under Dr. Ophir Klein in Program in Craniofacial Biology. She grew up in Korea but went to high school in the U.S. She obtained her BS degree in molecular and cellular biology from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2012. During her undergraduate training, she investigated how snRNA is recruited to the splicing site of the nascent transcript in Xenopus laevis under Dr. Michel Bellini. After joining the OCS Program, she aims to understand the role of Wnt signaling in early tooth development using mouse as a model system. Her goal is to improve the current understanding of tooth development and hopes to have a lasting impact in restorative dentistry.
