Welcome to the School of Dentistry Community

Preparing for postgraduate study in the middle of a pandemic is a challenging prospect. We know you will have many questions between now and your anticipated arrival in July. This page is intended to provide information regarding the COVID-19 situation's impact on the School of Dentistry, UCSF and San Francisco.

If you have questions that are specific to your program, please contact your program director. Jocelyn Faye, postgraduate program coordinator, can address general questions.

UCSF

UCSF Dental Center is beginning to reschedule postponed appointments. Clinics are gradually ramping up treatment capacity.
Everyone onsite must pass a daily health screen to verify that they do not have COVID-19 symptoms or exposures that could put others at risk.
Anyone on campus must wear cloth face coverings anywhere they may come into contact with other people. Employees, health care workers and trainees who enter clinical areas will be subject to the Universal Surgical Mask Policy.
All UCSF affiliates who test positive or have previously tested positive for COVID-19 at an outside facility must self-report these results to the appropriate UCSF department. Employees, trainees and volunteers must self-report positive test results to UCSF Occupational Health Services.

San Francisco and Beyond

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has outlined a framework to determine when state and local communities can begin to resume work, school, and other activities. The timing will depend on the progress we make toward six indicators, and the governor pledged to make any decisions in concert with local public health authorities and other city and county leaders. For more details, please see the governor’s press release.
Local and state authorities continue to advise residents to stay at home except for essential needs.
San Francisco currently is in Phase 2b of phased reopening. Read more on what this entails.
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and San Francisco's municipal transit system (SFMTA) are operating on a limited basis.
