Educate and Prepare a Biomedical and Health Care Workforce for the Future
Goal 1:
Evaluate the ongoing integration of the advanced standing International Dentist Pathway (IDP) with the traditional four-year DDS program at the Parnassus campus and propose iterative improvements to key stakeholder groups based on the outcomes of this evaluation.
Metrics:
% of course objectives, assessments, and clinical requirements between two curricula that are identical
% on-time graduation between the two cohorts (use Class of 2023 as pre-integration benchmark, use subsequent years’ cohort data for evaluating integration)
% passing / % not passing grades for IDP and domestic students in the same graduating year on a quarterly basis and compare. Evaluate mean number of completed clinical procedures by procedure type at graduation for international and domestic learners and compare the two
Defined survey measures that compare student experiences between the two cohorts. Class of 2024 as interval for transition class. Classes of 2025 and 2026 will provide definitive integration outcomes as they did not personally experience both programs
Obtain course director feedback on both cohorts via survey at intervals (Dec 2023 and June 2024)
Goal 2:
Assess the status of licensure examination outcomes (DDS program) and board certification readiness (post-graduate programs) and propose and support programs to improve outcomes for learners in these areas.
Metrics:
% first time pass rates for ADEX (American Board of Dental Examiners) by section
% first time pass rates for INBDE (Integrated National Board Dental Examination)
% resident graduates who are board certification eligible
% resident graduates who intend to enter board certification process in their specialty (resident exit survey data)
Compare to national statistics for the above where such statistics exist
In partnership with content leads, devise any necessary curriculum or support structures that would enhance learner performance in these areas, and share them with senior leadership and content experts
