UCSF Dentistry and Accreditation
Greetings to the Students, Faculty, and Staff of the School of Dentistry!
We have been engaged in the accreditation self-study process for almost two years now. You have all participated in this important school-wide activity that confirms to the public and all of our constituents that we are meeting the national standards in dental education. Our predoctoral program and seven postgraduate programs are being reviewed, Dental Public Health, Endodontics, General Practice Residency, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics.
The exciting thing now is that we have a site visit scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, through Thursday, April 12. At that time a team of evaluators from across the nation will be on campus to interview many of us, and tour our facilities. This is a wonderful opportunity to show how well we are accomplishing our mission of teaching, research, and service! I am delighted to welcome the site team here and introduce them to each of you.
Of course we will be putting our best foot forward for our visitors, but we have an excellent set of programs here peopled by wonderful individuals. The UCSF School of Dentistry can host these visitors with pride.
The extensive set of documents that we have prepared is available for your review. There are copies in each of the Chair’s offices, my office, and the associate deans’ offices. Please feel free to stop by and review them.
And please join me in welcoming our accreditation site visitors in April.
