Barbie Klein, PhD

Associate Professor

Dr. Barbie Klein, PhD, MS (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor with joint appointments in the Department of Anatomy in the School of Medicine and the Department of Cell and Tissue Biology in the School of Dentistry, is the Education Director of the Anatomy Learning Center, and is the Faculty Advisor for the Willed Body Program at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Klein teaches gross anatomy, human embryology, histology, and neuroanatomy to health professional students and continuing medical education learners. She is the Discipline Director for human embryology and neuroanatomy blocks for medical students and co-director of the Biomedical Sciences curriculum for dental students. She was inducted into the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators in 2024. Her research explores interprofessional anatomy education, instructional design, and the use of 3D printing and virtual reality to improve anatomy education.
