Dr. Diana K. Nguyen is a general dentist, educator, and academic leader serving as Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences at the UCSF School of Dentistry. She is the Endowed Chair of the Division of Clinical General Dentistry at the UCSF Dental Center and serves as a Group Practice Leader in the predoctoral student clinic, where she oversees clinical education, mentorship, and patient care delivery for dental students across multiple years of training.

Dr. Nguyen earned her undergraduate degree from Columbia University, her DDS from the New York University College of Dentistry, and completed a General Practice Residency at Yale University. Prior to joining UCSF full-time, she practiced in San Diego, California, with an emphasis on patient-centered care, minimally invasive dentistry, and comprehensive treatment planning. Her clinical experience includes restorative dentistry, crown and bridge, implant restoration, oral surgery, and emergency dental care.

At UCSF, Dr. Nguyen is recognized for her work in clinical education, leadership development, and operational innovation within dental education. She has led and developed numerous initiatives focused on improving clinical efficiency, student learning, mentorship, and patient access to care. Her work frequently centers on bridging the gap between didactic education and real-world clinical practice while helping prepare students for successful careers in both private practice and academic dentistry.

In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Nguyen remains actively involved in organized dentistry and professional service. She previously served on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Dental Society and chaired its Membership Committee, where she helped expand engagement among dentists and trainees throughout the Bay Area. Earlier in her career, she also served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Dental Society and held a faculty appointment with the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, where she supervised students and provided care to underserved patient populations.

Dr. Nguyen is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. She is a published author and national speaker on topics related to dental education, leadership, mentorship, and the future of the dental profession. Her work and perspectives have been featured in publications including The New York Times, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal.
