Martin Martz, DDS, MS, joined the faculty at UCSF as a Clinical Associate Professor in 2022. He received the Lateral Skull Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2024 and the Faculty of the Year Award in 2025.
Dr. Martz previously taught for 9 years at the Orthodontic Clinic at UCLA, where he received the Faculty of the Year Award 6 times. He also taught at Loma Linda University's Orthodontic Clinic.
Dr. Martz is a graduate of the Orthodontic Program at Loma Linda University, and attended there from 1979 to 1981. He practiced orthodontics for 28 years before he started his academic career. He was a member of the Kern County Dental Society, and served as president in 2001–2002. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and holds several patents for orthodontic appliance designs.
