Howard Pollick, BDS, MPHHoward Pollick, BDS, MPH, received the 2017 John W. Knutson Distinguished Service Award in Dental Public Health from the Oral Health Section of the American Public Health Association on Nov. 21, 2017 in Atlanta.
Dr. Pollick, director of the School of Dentistry's Dental Public Health Residency Program, was nominated by George Taylor, DMD, MPH, DrPH, associate dean for diversity in the School of Dentistry; Ernest Newbrun, PhD, DMD, School of Dentistry professor emeritus; and Dr. Jared Fine, director, Dental Public Health, Alameda County. Dr. Pollick also is the recipient of the 2015 UCSF Chancellor's Public Service Award and the 2010 Fluoridation Special Merit Award from the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors.
The John W. Knutson Distinguished Service Award has been presented annually since 1982 to honor an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to improve oral health in the United States. Its recipients have demonstrated sustained and exemplary accomplishments in the field of dental public health.
