A member of the School of Dentistry’s faculty since 2014, Dr. Stewart previously spent 12 years in the UCLA School of Dentistry, during which he directed the Pediatric Dentistry Postgraduate Program and coordinated the Craniofacial Anomalies Program. He subsequently spent 25 years in private practice before returning to UC. Dr. Stewart earned his DMD and a master of science degree in medical genetics from the University of Oregon.
In addition to pediatric dentistry, Dr. Stewart has been an advocate for special needs dentistry and was one of the organizers of the school’s 2020 symposium on special needs dentistry.
Alternating years with the Faculty Research Lecturer, the Outstanding Clinician Award salutes individuals who are recognized by their fellow faculty for their profound depth of knowledge in their field of practice, by a willingness to acquire and disseminate new knowledge, by their commitment to professionalism, and their demonstrated ability to provide care that is of the highest quality. They are known to provide compassionate, appropriate and effective care to all of their patients.
Research and Clinical Excellence Day did not take place in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
