Longtime faculty member Stuart Gansky, DrPH, has been appointed associate dean for research, following a UCSF-wide search. He succeeds Thomas Lang, who retired in January.
Dr. Gansky has been a faculty member in the School of Dentistry since 1996 and is currently the Lee Hysan Chair of Oral Epidemiology in the Division of Oral Epidemiology and Dental Public Health. A leader in quantitative methods in oral health, oral health equity and health policy, he is director of the UCSF Center to Address Disparities in Children's Oral Health (CAN-DO), which focuses on understanding and reducing health inequalities in children. He is a consulting biostatistician with the UCSF Clinical & Transitional Science Institute (CTSI), as well as a faculty affiliate at the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute, the Institute for Global Health Sciences and the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies.
One of Dr. Gansky’s first tasks will be to recruit two assistant deans to provide added support in various research focus areas, including basic science research and clinical research.
The school and UCSF Dental Center will welcome Tatiana Urisman to the position of executive director of clinical operations. She arrives June 1. Urisman will play a central role in improving the patient experience at UCSF Dental Center and uniting our clinics into one system of care that can be integrated with UCSF Health. She currently is a unit director at UCSF Health. Urisman holds a master of science in healthcare administration from UCSF School of Nursing and has extensive experience managing all aspects of clinical operations.
